Making Sugar Figures using Candy Molds

Now you can create your own sugar figures and lay ons using our Candy Molds and Meringue Powder.

1. Choose one of our candy molds and 2 oz. jar of Meringue Powder. We ship within 24 hours of your order. If you do not have food coloring, choose from our array of colors.

2. BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Do not make sugar ornaments on a rainy or high humidity day. Your sugar mold will not turn out.

Mix together well in large bowl: 1 teaspoon Meringue Powder for every 1 cup of granulated sugar. You cannot substitute meringue powder with any other product if you want to create a hard sugar mold.

Mix sugar and meringue powder well.  Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of water for each 1 cup of sugar mixture. If you are coloring the sugar, add drops of color to the water prior to adding to sugar mixture. Mix together well.

Use your hands to mix well. You will know if it is ready for the mold If your fingerprints remain when you squeeze the sugar in your hand. If it is too dry, add little drops of water until it is ready.

Pack sugar mixture FIRMLY into mold.  Use a straight edge to scrape the back of the mold flat. Pack down some more until perfectly tight. Place a stiff cardboard square (approx. 5" x 6") over mold and invert immediately. Lift mold off carefully. Place figures on a cookie sheet an bake at 200 degrees for about 15 minutes. Allow to dry overnight.

For a 5 pound bag of sugar, use 1/4 cup meringue powder and 10 teaspoons of water.
